Fire

• Any broken windows or holes in the roof should be covered to protect your liability

Water

• Shut off water
  
• Call for water remediation (dryers, carpet removal, etc.)
  

Don't do anything yourself

• You just experienced trauma from the loss of your home. Most people's natural instinct is to clean up and begin repairs. This can often harm your claim. Do nothing (except basic mitigation) until your house is inspected by both your insurance adjuster and a licensed contractor specializing in insurance reconstruction.
